Road Trip Conclusion

Last week I went on a road trip to Eastern PA, Maryland and Virginia. It was a great time! The weather was beautiful and I enjoyed every minute of it.
My first stop was the little town of Middleburg, PA.  Terry and Cathy built a new pergola and selected outdoor furniture, two gliders and an end table, to go inside of it.

After I dropped off the gliders and table, I stopped for breakfast in Middleburg at Common Grounds Cafe and had the best breakfast bagel sandwich I've ever eaten!  I liked it so much that I stopped there again on the way back from Virginia the next morning.

Next stop: Baltimore, Maryland.  I delivered a six foot wide table with six highback chairs to Our Lady of Fatima Senior Housing Project. They had a new gazebo and wanted a large table that would seat six people comfortably. After bolting the table directly to the concrete we put the chairs around it and it was ready to go.

Installing the table.

Finished table and chairs.

The next stop was Alexandria, Virginia to pick up Joel and Judy's table.  They wanted to convert their table to a bigger size.  The original table was 42" x 66" with four leaves.  We'll be adding four more leaves to the table and refinishing the top to look like new.  Pictures to come later.

My last stop was to see Chip in Ashburn, VA to deliver an entertainment center. He was very happy with it since the entertainment center was designed to fit the TV.  I think it turned out great!

All in all, I enjoyed meeting everyone on this little road trip and I hope to do more soon!

I am heading to Middleburg, PA, Baltimore, MD, Alexandria, VA and Ashburn, VA for the next couple of days for four deliveries and I hope to have plenty of pictures of outdoor table and chairs, outdoor gliders, cherry chairs and an entertainment center being delivered.  I am excited to see the countryside and to be visiting new customers! Check back with us next week to see some pictures.

Duplicating Furniture

The Pine headboard to be duplicted.

The shelves being curved out created some logistical problems, as well as the scalloped sides.
Ken and Ellen of Cranberry Township came to us to duplicate a headboard they had for many years. They bought a dresser and other pieces but their headboard was made of pine and it didn't match with their new bedroom set. They loved their old headboard and commisioned us to have a duplicate headboard made but out of oak with the same stain as the rest of their bedroom furninture. Check it out!

The new oak headboard!
We were able to create the same curved shelves and scalloped sides!

Summertime Outdoor Furniture

The last couple of months have brought people as far away as Baltimore, MD to buy our outdoor furniture. While most people stick to our standard colors, here are a few customers that wanted to have color combinations that are unique to their house or backyard.

Here is one that we had built for a customer that wanted a seven foot across table to be able to fit six arm chairs all around it. This would be great by a pool or lakeside deck! Summer officially begun yesterday but there is no reason you can't have your summer begin this weekend with our outdoor furniture!

Designing a Custom Entertainment Center by Amish Peddler

Bob and Janet of Cranberry Township stopped by in February to ask us about designing a custom entertainment center for them. They brought a picture of the front cover of "The Family Handyman" magazine. They wanted to have a lot of the same features that were on the cover of their magazine.

We spent about an hour designing and drafting an entertainment center that would fit in the area they designated for the entertainment center. There were several requirements they had for the entertainment center. Bob and Janet wanted a speaker cloth panel in the center of the entertianment center. They wanted to fill out the wall so it was to be 107" high and 144" wide. The entertainment center had to be fastened to the wall giving the built-in entertainment center look. The molding has to be like the picture of the magazine and have lights on the top to diplay the items on the top shelf.
This is the result of what we designed and built.

Speaker Cloth in doors

This is what Janet had to say after we installed it in her family room.

"We have received many compliments and I enjoy it looking at it everyday!  Thank you!" - Janet

Thank you Bob and Janet for trusting us to build your entertainment center!

5' Custom Benches

Martin and Caryn of Slippery Rock ordered a custom handcrafted table but didn't want the standard side chairs alongside the table. They opted for two 5' benches to fit alongside the table. We think they look great!

Bob's Custom Entertainment Center

Bob from Glen Mills, PA contacted us about having an entertainment center built to fit the exact specifications of his brand new TV. He wanted to be able to close everything up when he had vistors over as well as the option of the doors folding away when he wanted to watch TV. This entertianment center ended up being 72" high x 21" deep x 58" wide. It has some unique features such as the bi-fold pocket doors and two large drawers in the bottom for storing all of his DVD's. We love building custom TV centers!

Big Tables Rule!

Back in August of 2010 we were contacted by Dan and Tracy from Nevada about designing and building an Oak 90" round table. After many e-mails and phone calls later, we are proud to present the biggest round table we have ever built! Tracy e-mailed us to let us know her thoughts about her new table, " We just wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you for the beautiful table.....it is perfect. It arrived in perfect condition. Everything went smoothly. We appreciate all your extra efforts to make a table this big. Yesterday was our first meal on it, it was our son's 18th birthday!! We earlier in the morning had our first Bible devotions on it too. We all love it, and it easily seats 14!!! We usually have 8 chairs, as we are a family of 7, but more people were here for the birthday. It made our room look bigger too. God bless you all, thank you again for making this custom size table." All of us at Amish Peddler hope you enjoy your table for many years to come!

We Do Custom Furniture

It is often difficult to buy a new piece of furniture that will either match existing furniture or be exactly what you are looking for. So what do you do? Do you bite the bullet and buy something that only closely matches the furniture in that room? Or do you buy an end table that isn't exactly what you are looking for to complete that newly revamped room? Why spend all that money and not get something you are completely satisfied with and are excited to show off when guests come over?

Buy something you know that is designed well, will look great and is something you love! Here at the Amish Peddler we will work along with you to design and build a piece of furniture exactly how you want it. We work with skilled Amish craftsmen who are up to the challenge and will diligently work to create a piece of furniture to match your current furniture or your design. We have completed tables as large as 20-feet long and our most recent custom design is the desk seen below for the Brown family.

Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show

We spent ten days at the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show and had a great time getting to meet everyone. This is the event we most look forward to each year because we enjoy getting to talk with fellow Western Pennsylvanians and share that time with you. As always, we enjoy visiting and patronizing the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and are treated with great care and respect.

Here I am talking to some customers about our outdoor products and the lifetime guarantee that comes with our products.

I had the opportunity to share with folks about our indoor furniture but also spend some time getting to know them. That was my favorite part about the H&G Show. I really enjoyed getting the opportunity to talk with those passing by and take some time to get to know them on a personal level.

Many of you at the show were also interested in more of our outdoor furniture that we did not have at the show such as: the pub style table, swivel bar stool and the single (non-swivel) glider. Below are some pictures of the outdoor furniture that we have here at the store.

If you want more information of our products please check out our website!
